Astroga

Last night I stayed in a delightful bed and breakfast. There were only 3 guests, but the owner and the host was very kind. She spoke no English and my Spanish is very poor, but we managed. I left at 7:45 for a much shorter walk to get to Astorga - a Roman city with an important cathedral and Gaudi building. The weather was beautiful; I avoided the highway; and got to Astroga by noon. (The pathway was rocky but sloppy). I toured the church and a chapel, learned a couple of things, and enjoyed the city. Tomorrow is a much longer day uphill, but it looks like no rain. By the way, have discovered something to help toe blisters, toe socks! Buen Camino

Leaving Hospital de Órbigo A Rocky PathNo highway, beautiful landscapesNot sure what to think of mannequins, like murals better (a little creepy)Cross over looking the cityA free rest stopThis gentleman was out for a walk and made it a point of greeting, “Buenos Dias, Buen Camino”The CathedralThe EntranceJesus draws in dirt, welcoming all sinners (John 8)Jesus drives out money changers, a house of prayerAn altar from Baroque periodLots of stain glass, some old, some new, and some just translucent glass.
