Another Day
Today seemed like a long day. The Meseta is beautiful but repetitive. You walk alone for a while and you with someone striking up a conversation. Tomorrow I arrive in Leon, a large city in this part of Spain and will take day off. When I start walking again on Thursday, it will be like I am starting the Camino all over again. All the friends I have been walking with the last couple of days will have moved on and I will meet another new group. Tonight as I had dinner, I met a new person from Germany and San Diego and then James, a friend I met last week. At another table was the group of Australians I have walked and talked with for the last several days. They will move on and I will find a new group. Such is my journey on the Camino. Tonight I had the same menu for dinner I have had at several locations. It is called the pilgrim meal and includes 2 courses, bread, dessert, wine, and water for about 16€, which is about $18. Wine is fair and the meal is plentiful. Most days I am eating breakfast, an apple for lunch, and the dinner. Some days I stop for a coffee (espresso or cappuccino) which is 2.5€. Cheaper than Starbucks. I have almost walked 300 miles in the last 18 days. My knees hurt some, legs muscles are stiff, feet are sore, but my spirits are good. The Camino is a unique experience for all. Have a good day and Buen Camino
