A Sucker for Churches and Art

I missed yesterday because I could not stop visiting churches and seeing the artwork. I guess the part of my pilgrimage, I can’t resist a 1,000 to 500 year old churches and all the artwork. As I said before, the church (and the gospel) inspired some of the great artwork of the second millennium AD including innovation in architecture, style, technique, and even the use of color. Yesterday I arrived at Castrojeriz which has a rich history including a castle built on a Roman outpost, a convent or monastery ruins from the 9th century, a several beautiful churches. The walk was shorter and I got to spend more time exploring. I am getting close to the half way point, that will be day 17. When I started at Roncesvalles, I had 751km or 466.7 miles to Santiago. As you can see I am closing in on the halfway point. I am physically fine (blisters seem to be healing), but very stiff in the morning. Advil is helpful each day. Weather has been very nice, but may have some rain the next couple of days. All in All going well. Buen Camino
