Trash Truck, Right Way?, No Power
This morning started at 5:30 when the trash truck outside my room started its day. My grandson would have been happy. I had slept well - in bed at 8:45, so I rose slowly and stiffly a began my routine of packing and preparing for the day. After breakfast which included scrambled eggs and bacon, I was at 7:45 - my earliest start. The day was once again filled with beautiful landscapes and today brilliant sunshine. I am so grateful to God and called the beauty of the walk “A Beautiful Mercy.” It is very hard to get the beauty of the vistas into a photo. I once again walked for a while with my two Danish friends. Our first stop was the Bodega Irache which had an outdoor tap for wine. It was 8:30 and I decided not to partake. They said it was an “early vintage.” We did get our picture taken on the webcam and you will see it. From there we headed to Luquin. This wasn’t intentional - it was “The Road Less Traveled.” I don’t know where I missed it but I did. I was following sign for an “alternative route.” It got me to my destination so that was all that mattered. (By the way, others took the same route - it’s nice to know when you are lost your not alone.). I have added some additional pictures of directional signs and one to see it you can fine the marker. (It took me a while). At 11:00 I had a snack with another friend on the journey. She is from Valencia, Spain and tomorrow is her last day - back to work. I arrived at my destination in Los Arcos at 1:15 to find the power was out - an outage across Spain. I got a hot shower, but was out of Euros. The ATM didn’t work, the credit card didn’t work, so I pulled a few snacks from my backpack for dinner. It was still light at 8:30 so I wrote this post in my journal to transcribe for tomorrow. I hope power comes back on. What if the cell phone can’t be charged. The world is lost. What will I do…Get up and walk the Camino!
Buen Camino
P.S. The blisters are better!
And my favorite picture of the day! Miss you Chrissy
Buen Camino!
We’re praying for your blisters to heal! What beautiful scenery. I’ve heard the paths are a bit confusing but happy you got to your destination. Daryl
